I don´t have any problems with pest. Why should I buy Topo Stop pest defence?

Read here and you will understand why electronic pest defence as a prophylaxis is superior to traditional rodent control. In short you can describe the ultrasonic sound wave generated by a Topo Stop pest defence device like an "invisible and indestructible net" filling every nook and crannies in the house.

Top pest defence FAQ

Does it matter during what time of the year I install Topo Stop pest defence in my house?

Since mice and other rodents think of Topo Stop as a living foe threatening their nesting place in your house it has proven beneficial to apply electronic pest defence early in the season prior to the first frostbite nights. The rodent pest in your house then stand a better chance to find a new place to move to. Generally speaking the pest defence process will then be speeded up a bit.

I don´t know where the mice enter my house. Where shall I install my Topo Stop pest defence device?

We suggest you just follow the blue continue arrows starting from our index page. You will then after a few clicks find the appropriate site for the pest in question and what pest defence equipment you will need.

If I install my Topo Stop pest defence device in the crawling space underneath my house, don´t I lock up the mice that are already in the house?
No! Topo Stop pest defence does not establish an "unpenetrable steel wall" but will merely create an extremely unpleasant environment for the rodent pest. Since mice need to leave the house every day in order to lick some dew or snow, they will pass the threatening Topo Stop device every time - a passage that in the long run will prove unbearable for the mice!

I have mice under the kitchen sink. Can I put a Topo Stop pest defence device there?

Yes of course but there is often a better location where to install your electronic pest defence equipment.

I have bats in the attic. Should I use ultrasonic or resonance sound pest defence against them?

It depends on where the bats enter the house and where there dwelling place is.

How do optimize a Topo Stop pest defence installation in my summer house?

It depends on to what extent you can monitor the pest defence process during the off season period. Read here.

Top pest defence FAQ

Will it be sufficient with one unit of Topo Stop pest defence or do I need several units?

Normally it only takes one unit of electronic pest defence to obtain a satisfactory result, but in order to elaborate the subject a bit more we suggest you read here.

The crawling space under my house is partitioned into four spaces. Do I need several pest defence units in order to stop mice from entering my house?

Since there normally are openings between the different cavities underneath the house two units of Topo Stop pest defence (Topo Stop E500) will probably be sufficient.
How you install a device to make it cover to separate spaces you can read about here.

How shall I stop mice from entering the crawling space under my house? I can´t get in there to make an electronic pest defence installation.

In case there are no ventilation holes that you can use for entering the pest defence device into the crawling space, we recommend you to make an inspection hatch through the ground floor. You can always find a secluded area somewhere, for instance under a bed or a cupboard where a hatch won´t be in your way.
The extra advantage with a hatch leading to the crawling space is that you will be able to make inspections under the house to check on ventilation etc.
We take the liberty in quoting the old proverb: There are no obstacles, only possibilities....!

How can I make an electronic pest defence installation in the attic? My roof is almost flat and there is no crawling space there.

In order to secure the evacuation of rain water a flat roof is always tilted to a certain degree. This means that one side of the house is slightly higher than the other one. On this higher side there are normally a number of ventilation hatches on the wall close to the roof. Through one of these hatches you could easily install an electronic pest defence device, thus covering the very narrow open attic.
In case your house doesn´t have ventilation hatches as described we strongly recommend you to add a few in the process.

Is Topo Stop R100 resonance device only used as a completion or can it be used separately for electronic pest defence?
Of course! Topo Stop R100 can be used separately, but since this type of device emits a clearly to humans audible sound (starts humming every now and then for a few seconds like an old refrigerator) we recommend this resonance model as the second choice in order to spare your ears.
However, in order to guide the mice hiding in the wall/floor the right way out of the house we strongly recommend you to install one or several Topo Stop Electro Cats in the living spaces as well.

I have no electricity in my summer house during off season. How can I run Topo Stop pest defence?
We have an accessory battery box that will keep the a Topo Stop E250 running for a couple of months.
In case you have difficulty in replacing the batteries we recommend you to have a new electrical outlet installed in the house that is active although the rest of the electricity in the house is shut off.

I don´t have any electricity at all in my summer house. What type of batteries can I use for Topo Stop pest defence?
Any type of battery that yields 6-12 volt will do nicely for a few months operation. For instance you can connect a 6/12 volts car battery that will allow the device to run a lot longer.

Will Topo Stop deter cats visiting my carport?
The ultrasonic sound waves emitted by a Topo Stop device are primarily attempted for pest defence against wild rodent pest, but we have had numerous reports from car owners that have succeeded in scaring domestic cats away from carports. What they normally do is to connect the unit to an IR-detector that will trigger the device the moment the cat enters the carport. We feel this is a feasible way of deterring cats but you should not have to much hope in the garden since you really need the walls and roof to make the sound waves bounce back and forth to have any positive effect on cats.
Topo Stop in the garden against deer and other wild game is however no problem. It works in most cases although you might have to adopt the IR-detector installation in severe cases.

I only keep the temperature in my summer house just above freezing point. Can I use electronic pest defence devices not protected against cold and dampness?
No problems! However if the space is very damp and cold we´d recommend you to choose the professional models of Topo Stop (E250/E500/R100).

Why should I buy a Topo Stop pest defence device for nearly $150 when I can get a pest repeller for less than $30 from a mail order catalogue?

Firstly! The Money-Back-Guarantee any pest defence supplier offers you will easily reveal how much confidence a pest defence company have in their product. Since it normally takes anything between 3-10 weeks to be able to really measure the effect of a electronic pest defence device, you probably realize that a 30 or even 60 day guarantee won´t do you much good!
Secondly! Topo Stop E250 and E500 represent professional pest defence, and as such the devices have among other high-tech details a water resistant piezo speaker that will withstand the damp and cold environment in a crawling space for may years. Pest defence devices manufactured in the Far East have with few exceptions traditional speaker components, for instance paper cones that in due course will absorb moisture thus loosing effect.
Thirdly! The actual components in a Topo Stop pest defence device surely don´t cost much, but that is not really what you are paying for!
You pay for the know-how concerning pest defence just as you for instance would do when being prescribed Losec (Prilosec) to cure your gastric ulcer.
For more than 25 years the scientist in the laboratories of Windhager GesmbH have developed the performance of Topo Stop and Mole Stop next to perfection, a know-how that you will benefit from at a very reasonable price.

In connection with this let us tell you a story with a moral to it from Café de Paris in the autumn 1946:

How much is a Picasso worth?

Picasso who had become a celebrity long before the war was back in Paris and had lunch with a few friends in the heart of the city. The famous artist suddenly got an idea and started sketching directly on the table cloth.
An American woman on holiday sitting at the next table got completely taken with what she was witnessing and promptly asked Picasso.
- Oh, what a lovely piece of art. At what price can I place it in my possession?
- Give me 5000 dollars and the cloth is yours, replied the artist.
- Five thousand! Don´t be impudent! It only took you five minutes to draw it..
- No, my dear lady. It took me forty years.....!

Top pest defence FAQ

My Topo Stop pest defence installed in the attic has been operating for more than 24 hours. Why don´t the mice disappear?

Electronic pest defence devices very seldom have momentarily effect. An explanation follows here.

My Topo Stop pest defence device have been running for several months now but the mice won´t disappear. What could be wrong?

If you have installed a basic electronic pest defence according to our recommendations and have not noticed any major improvement regarding the pest infestation, then the vermin must have alternative entrances and/or nesting places that currently are not exposed to sound waves from your pest defence appliances.
In this situation in order to accomplish a satisfactory pest defence solution it is necessary to install additional devices, either with Topo Stop E250/E500 and/or Topo Stop R100. Do take advantage of our upgrading discount when expanding your basic pest defence installation!

Why are there more mice in the attic since I installed a Topo Stop pest defence device?
We are pretty certain you don´t have more mice, you just hear more of them. The explanation is that the mice have become stressed because of your electronic pest defence installation.

Top pest defence FAQ

My mice aren´t afraid at all of my Topo Stop pest defence. What is wrong?

You misjudge the situation! In there struggle for survival the mice get cocky and try to show no fear in the face of the intruding "foe" - the electronic pest defence.

The rock wool insulation in my attic is 40 cm thick. Do the ultrasonic sound waves really penetrate it to reach the mice underneath it?

Yes, but no doubt will the sound volume be considerably reduced. This does not necessarily mean that the effect of Topo Stop pest defence will be diminished. The mice probably feel that in the same way as they can dive into the rock wool so can the foe (Topo Stop). According to our statistics only in very few cases additional unit(s) of the resonance model (R100) will be needed to obtain a satisfactory pest defence.

How come I still catch mice with traps when I have had a Topo Stop pest defence device operating for more than six months?

Read this explanation and you´ll understand why.
